Committees
Joining a Committee is a great way for members to get involved at Congregation Beth Israel. Our standing committees are:
Building & Grounds
Cares for and improves our CBI facility
Communications
Produces the newsletter, flyers, and other communications
Fundraising
Runs annual fundraising events and participates in fund development
Membership and Welcoming
Outreach to newcomers and creation of a welcoming atmosphere for all members
Ritual
Worship care and attention to religious observances and policies
Religious School
Supports and oversees the CBI Religious School program
Social Action/Tikkun Olam
Develops charitable and service projects, and a social action agenda for CBI in these areas: international, local, Hadarat P’nai Zaken (honoring elders) and other mitzvot for the community, and the Green Menorah (environmental).
Social and Cultural
Provides a variety of fun and enriching social and cultural events for the community
Sunshine & Mitzvot
This committee recognizes connects with our members when they are ill, and also when they have special occasions and lifecycle passages
Haverot Sisterhood
CBI’s active women’s group has its own board of directors and provides social, cultural, service and fundraising activities
Library
The library committee develops and supports the Marion J. Corwin library
To join a committee, CBI members can contact the chairperson of that committee. All their names are listed on our board listing at the bottom of the “About” page on this website. Additional Committees which are not part of the board include: Social Services (provides social service referrals and guidance), Musicians, Gardening, and Kiddush Committee.
