Teen's Page

Our teen program includes a Confirmation Class and a chapter of BBYO (B'nai B'rith Youth Organization) The Confirmation Class for grades 8-10 meets twice a month to study subjects of interest to our post-b'nai mitzvah students. Rabbi Danan is the teacher.

Teens conduct a Teen Shabbat service and participate in congregational holidays, service projects, and events. Our first Confirmation Ceremony was held in May, 2006, and has become an annual event for students in grades 10 and up who have participated regularly in the Confirmation class.

In May, 2004, a delegation of teens from B'nai B'rith Youth in the San Francisco Bay area came up to meet our teens and tell them about BBYO. From this initial meeting, our teens started their own local chapter of the world's largest Jewish youth group. The name of our chapter is "HaTikvah" (the Hope).

BBYO offers fun social events, community service and cultural/educational programs. Our teens travel to conventions in the Bay Area and are eligible to participate in BBYO programs in Israel and around the world.

BBYO is open to all local Jewish teens in grades 8-12. Annual dues are payable to the national organization, and scholarships are available for dues and conventions.
