Zachor - The Power and Importance of Collective Memory

3nd Anniversary of the Camp Fire ~ November 8, 2021

If you live in Butte County, November is a traumatic month. On November 8, 2018, we experienced the Camp Fire. Three years have passed since that horrifying day. There has been a lot of healing and rebuilding. The strong, beating heart of our community has sustained us. At the same time, the stress from that day is still with us.

Zachor. We remember, together, the shock and terror. We remember, together, the loss and pain. As we remember, together, our healing deepens. Zachor.

We align our hearts, minds, and souls with all who lost homes and lives during the devastating Camp Fire three years ago. We send comfort to those who continue to be impacted by loss. We bless all with continued strength as we remember and rebuild.

83nd Anniversary of Kristallnacht ~ November 9, 2021

If you are a Jew, November is a traumatic month. November 9th, 1938, is known as “The Night of Broken Glass, Krstallnacht.” On this night, in 1938, more than 1,000 synagogues were attacked in Germany and Austria. It was the outbreak of mass violence against Jews which was to end in their mass murder. And even though that night was 83 years ago, we still carry fragments of the stress and the memory lives inside of us.

Zachor. We remember, together, the shock and terror. We remember, together, the loss and pain. As we remember, together, our healing deepens. Zachor.

We join with Jews around the globe, remembering. We rededicated ourselves to fighting anti-semitism and systemic hatred, in all its forms.
