Judaism’s End of Life Rituals

On Wednesday, October 20 at 4:30 PM the leadership of Temple Emek Shalom, Chabad of Ashland and Havurah synagogue come together to offer teachings around death and dying in the Jewish tradition. Each speaker will present a different aspect of the beautiful rituals that guide the end of life in our tradition. Presenters, representing Jewish Renewal, Chabad and Reconstructionist synagogues, include Rabbi David Zaslow, Rabbi Sue Morningstar, Rabbi Avi Zweibel, Rabbi Julie Benioff, Rabbi Jackie Brodsky, Rabbi Emanuel Ben-David, and Daniel Greenblatt and Ross Albertson of the Hevre Kadisha (Jewish Burial Society). Topics will include Shmira (watching over the body) to Tahara (ritual purification) to Burial and Shiva (days of mourning). The presentations will be followed by discussion and Q & A. Everyone is welcome to join this teaching and discussion via Zoom.
