Reb Lisa'S

January 10, 2024

Shalom from Denver! It’s official, I am a rabbi!  I am your rabbi!

Every year, following the ordination is the annual Ohalah Jewish clergy conference. During this three day conference, I have been learning and connecting with ordained clergy and rabbinical students. This is my Jewish professional family and I so enjoy this time to be with my colleagues from all over the world.. It is thrilling to be attending this year as a rabbi. For the past seven years I have attended as a student.

Among the esteemed rabbis who officially ordained me was Rabbi Julie Danan, former Rabbi and Spiritual Leader of CBI. Rabbi Julie has been one of my primary mentors and has supported me every step of my journey. What an  incredible experience it was to have her lay hands on me, along with my other teachers, and confer this sacred title. At Congregation Beth Israel, we grow leaders. This is integral to the Torah of Chico. Rabbi Julie has inspired not only me, but also Hazzan Steve and Chaplain Loretta Steinke to step into Jewish clergy roles.

This is a real shehecheyanu moment for our community.

Blessed is the Holy One, Life of all the Worlds, who has enlivened us, sustained us, and brought us to this moment. Amen.

May we continue to inspire new leaders and grow our Jewish community in Chico.
